air in fuel line
My '74 240d has always, always run perfectly. Never spit, stuttered, smoked, bogged down; cold didn't bother it. A year or so ago I replaced the hand fuel pump with the new Bosch model. Also replaced the glow plugs. Since that time the car has been hard to start, or it would start, run for 10 minutes til slightly warm, then choke out. Then I would have to bleed it and that would seem to help, but it would still be hard to start.
I've noticed there is air in the line from the hand pump to the large filter. Bleeding doesn't remove it. Could it be the new hand pump that's causing this? Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian |

Did you put a new copper washer in? It might not seated all the way, or I suppose the the primer could possibly be bad.

Hi,
Yes, I did put a washer in. You're right, maybe it's not seated correctly. I'll start with that. Thanks. |
