Turbo Questions
I was looking at the turbo the other day, and after removing the intake pipe I found a small puddle of oil in the inlet of the turbo:eek:  . Just for curiosity (and you just can't stop tinkering with these machines) I grabbed a hold of the end shaft of the turbo, and there appeared to be quite a bit of end play. ( >.010" and < .015"), is this too much? I am always afraid of launching it (the turbo). Can you buy rebuild kits for these? I rather fix it, then have to replace it. My speedo as you have seen in other posts is not real accurate, but I think I use a quart of oil every 2K miles.(Some leaks from the front of the engine which is another problem:( ). Any ideas, or just let Diesel dogs lie.

Rebuild?
Here is a thread that could answer some of your question!

Thanks again. It is nice to know you can do P.M (Preventative maintenance). New and rebuilt turbos are just too much money, and for $90.00 (includes seal and bearing cartridge)it is cheap insurance.
