W123 Motor Mount Heat Shield

Dealer wants $75.00 for it. Does anyone have an extra you are willing to sell? I accidentally knocked mine off and lost it when I did the oil cooler lines...

Thanks,

Dkr.

I don't have one to sell, but I think you should be able to get a new one cheaper.

You can order them from Pelicanparts for about 45 bucks. They are listed here:
1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D Base Sedan - Engine Miscellaneous - Page 2

You can try to do some searching on the part number to compare the prices. Part number is 123-241-02-34-MBZ

Question remains though: How important are they, really? I don't have one anymore on my drivers side. It wasn't there when I got the car and I didn't even know the part existed. It wasn't until I did the oil lines and changed the motor mounts I saw people online referring to the heat shields. I personally am not too worried about not having one.

Consider on gas cars, it's not uncommon to have 200,000 miles on original mounts.
Thanks, I'll buy one of these if that's my only option but from what I understand it's going to have to come from Germany. Also, many of these sites will say they have these specialty parts but don't really have them when you try to order.

I don't know exactly what the ramifications are for not having the heat shield however on W123s the motor mounts wear a lot faster than other cars. It's typical to replace them every 40,000-50,000 miles due to the extra diesel vibration (at least on the OM617 turbo). If I can get any extra use from having the heat shield, I will take what I can get. Until then, I've put a few thousand miles on it and don't really worry about it.

While the mount works without it, the mount will be more subject to wear from oil or other fluids getting onto it, and from heat.

They were missing off the first three Mercedes I owned.

Suggest you put a "want to buy" (WTB) ad in the used parts for sale and wanted section. It's the sort of small thing someone parting out a car would probably not think to actually list, but someone will likely respond if you ask.
