Handy fix for missing or broken Air filter housing mounts.
I got my 81 SD with a sagging air filter housing 2 weeks ago. While I have been working on various issues I was also checking to see if I had turbo charger seals or not and condition of the air filter.
I took off the air filter housing and saw I had only 1 mount and 1 broken and 1 missing...The one that was there I removed and started to look to through the parts boxes and see if I had any temporary fix for it. I know they only cost like $4.00 each but I didn't want to wait 5 days to get them here. Needed the exact thread fit and hard rubber in the middle would be a ++ . I had been saving 2 packages of cheapo bicycle brake rubber for like 20 years. The thread is exact to the mounts. I screwed 1 in to each hole on the mounts and another in to the holes on the filter housing. You can actually adjust this a little too. My housing is solid like a rock now and the rubber is a hard rubber like the mount has. AA...
