Anyone have a spare 190DT Expansion Tank?

I need a replacement for my coolant expansion tank. The pn is 2015000249, which is unique to the 190D turbo. Tanks from 124 and other 201 applications won't clear the air cleaner. Does anyone have one to spare?

It's over $200 now, which is five times more than the nearly identical 124 tank. I'm still checking around, I think I'll pass on the footless tank for now. Thanks.

Ummmm. Just use a 20 oz soda bottle or whatever you can find. A little glue. A little tape. A 12 pack of natural light. Good to go in under an hour.

... Somehow, I think that won't hold the radiator pressure or heat...

What is the difference exactly, do you have a photo? I know I have a 201 tank, but not sure if it is from a gasser or Diesel. I used to have a 190D, but don't remember if it came from that one or from a gasser....Rich

Im embarrassed to say, it actually works . They all are vented through the cap. The feed tube drops in below the water line. So when it pulls back it draws water. And that process is so slow that it dissipates the heat fine.

But when you open your hood and your buddies see it...

This E-Bay ad has a photo of a 124/190D tank:

Mercedes Benz W124 W201 190D 190E 260E 300TE 300CE 300E Expansion Tank | eBay

The level sender and the outlet both point forward. On a turbo, this puts them in the middle of the air cleaner. The turbo tanks (2015000249 or 02015000549) have the sender on the side of the tank, and the outlet angled out of the bottom. There is a tank that was used on the big 124 v8's, 1245001549, which may be a workable substitute. But it cold be an expensive experiment, even though they cost half as much:

The beer can fix sounds interesting, but I never drink...beer.

I tried this when mine was leaking... the 190D 2.5T is a one off. the cramming of stuff in the bay with the turbo really changed a lot of hose locations on the tank...

interesting on the 500 tank... I wish I knew where my old tank was...

wait... I have the blown motor turbo sitting in the yard, I could compare that to the ebay pic and see if it would work... it looks close...

interestingly... I paid more for the tank for my 190D NA 5speed... the two turbo tanks were only 150ish... the NA was 250 ...

maybe I'm remembering in reverse...

Search by the part number. OEM and otherwise are available at an automobile house in arizona.

As for the pressure, it's governed by the radiator cap. At room temp, a 2l bottle with pressed aluminum cap will hold about 90PSI, but not much more, tho crazing is evident before the cap lets go.

Cheapest I've seen for the 190DT tank is $193. I think the list is $202. It just seems like a lot, since the stock 124 tank is only fifty bucks. I can find the big-V8 version for $100, and it may be worth a try if I can't find a good used tank.

the tanks all mount the same pattern, it's the hose connections that are the pain... I actually installed a 124 cap in the turbo location, but had to be creative with the washer bottle and hose mounting... temporary while waiting on the dealer to get the right tank.

of course... that car has a cone filter on the turbo... kinda makes it simple...
