what years parts interchange with 81 240D

1977-1985. I thought it was 78 to 85. am looking for parts or whole car for daughters 81 240d. found a 77 but did not think parts were interchangeable.

The 123 in the US was 77-85. You will find some euro cars out of this range. I don't think the 240D was available all the years.

Nearly everything should interchange from the 77 to the 81.

1980 240D there was a 5? HP increase, Glow plugs changed to the pencil style
from the large Loop Style. Pre Chambers are different as well as the Cam Shaft as I remember from the 77 - 79 240.

There was a change in the door glass, early one`s were thicker, and around
79 they made it thinner. as per a buddy of mine doing some searching.. the early glass will not fit the later 123`s.

Pretty much every thing else will swap over.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

Nope, not in the least. Iam lovin this High Desert weather.

When I find my Calipers, I`ll measure the Door Glass on the 78 240 and the 80 240 and the 85 300D to see what it is.

My buddy got his window broken in SF, a smash and grab.
He asked if all 123 glass was the same? far as I knew it was. he did some searching
even called Roy, and he confirmed the difference in glass.

EDIT:

Talked to my buddy last night, he said the thin glass is 3mm and the thick glass is 4mm.

Also the thicker glass will not work in the early cars. When ordering a new piece of glass
only the thicker glass is available.
Finding a replacement glass out of a early junker that does not have the bottom
metal piece all rusted, is difficult.
