Pics of my '81 300SD today. Original owner

Just washed it. The bundts that I repainted with Duplicolor in 2008 still look pretty good. I had the weights put on the inside of the wheels and that helped.

She looks great, you must be proud to drive it. We'll never see cars like that made ever again....

Actually it looks a little better now; I spent about 15 minutes with my buffer putting a little wax on the hood and sides. Then of course it started raining. But it has certainly been a good vehicle. I had no idea I would still be driving it daily in 2015. The original paint is pretty tough; not the clear coat paint that they use nowdays.

Thx guys.

Very impressive. I'd say you've gotten your dollars worth out of it.

Think it is a little over 260K. For the last 3.5 years I have only driven it about 150 miles per month, mostly to Habitat sites.

And did you want to tell us how much "deniro" it set you back in 1981 or would that be too crass of a question?

Actually I do not quite remember; think it was in the $20's but just do not know. I always had a 6.3 before this one and when we had a little one we got something more family friendly.

I replaced the tranny at 125K and again at 250K and the AC about ten years ago. Other than that it is pretty much original. Been quite a good car; the clock even still works.
