1987 300D detailed photos
I'm in the re-assembly phase of a long term restoration on a 1987 300D prompted by my son's front end accident. I have replaced the damaged sheet metal including the radiator core support and inner fender wells. Unfortunately, the sheet metal came from a gas car, so the air cleaner and all the vacuum components around it have no place to mount. I'm looking for any pictures of the passenger area fender well with the air cleaner installed and also with it removed so I can see how to set up the mounts for everything in the area. Also, any help with vacuum and electrical diagrams would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help I can get.

I'll see if I can dredge up the photos from jaybob's TD rebuild I did.

Here's a reference pic for the air cleaner area with all the piece parts installed.

Thank you. Do you have more photos, with the air filter housing removed and maybe of the other side of the heat shield as well? I'm trying to see how everything mounts.

Sorry, I've only got these pictures of a complete engine bay. Here's a link to a thread with another shot. This car has the original "football" trap oxidizer mounted. These pictures were from a low-mileage car that was advertised and I thought these would be nice for future reference, so I save some of them.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/3483356-post28.html The heat shield / partition is delicate (fiberglass is easily damaged); I used parts from a 300D 2.5 to restore mine. The assembly is a bit of a puzzle, IIRC I left my air filter housing in place, but needed a really long extension to get the outside lowest nut (or was it a screw?) in place, but the accordion duct that goes through the partition to the turbo had to be installed first.

Thank you. That does help, but I still need to see under the air filter housing. There's more vacuum items under there...

I switched my 87 300D over to an outside vented fender. I could probably text you a picture of the inside of the fender, or if you happen to be in my area, you could look at it. If you want the picture, just pm me the phone number to text it to.
