Concours Candidate - Wow!

Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but this one is amazing - a reference specimen.

I doubt that a w123 will ever grace the lawn at Pebble Beach, but this surely would be a candidate.

Now I'll step back and let the nit-pickers find anything wrong with it... other than the fact that I don't own it.

Shame there's only one picture. Looks very much like the '85 300D-T I once owned (plus 200,000 miles!).

Beautiful car, I just don't understand why people would pay so much for a car that has 30 year old rubber. It will need 5 thousand dollars of rubber before it hits 30 k miles.

Time is a cars worst enemy.

Front passenger wheel is missing a valve stem cap

That's a deal breaker

That's weird. When I saw your post, I checked and the pictures of the undercarriage and engine compartment were missing. Now I checked again, and after refreshing the page in my browser, everything is there again. (They are located down below the primary listing, not in the usual location for Ebay listings.)

I knew someone would find something wrong with it!

The hard part will be finding a valve cap with the proper date code to satisfy the concours judges.

Somehow, I think that whomever buys this example will not be driving it much, if at all. I'll probably be long dead before this one ever sees 30,000 miles.

I just checked, and the listing was cancelled " because there was an error in the listing". I call Bullshot on that - I'll bet the seller got an amazing big-money offer. The last bid I saw was more than $24,000 - but I don't remember the exact amount.

I think it would be a good idea for someone to download and host the pictures, especially of the engine bay, as a future reference.

Here is an updated link to the "original listing":

Thats about as close as you are ever going to find to a new W123. It looks even better than the Mercedes Motoring cars.

The price seems reasonable for the condition. I don't know if I were in the market for a car in that price range I'd spend it on that but still seems reasonable. I think I'd rather have a new 240D stick or a euro 300 stick.

Re-listed now. Nice, just a few blemishes like the left rear bumper and marks on the side of the base of the passenger seat. I also see that the brake fluid is dark and needs to be flushed.

Very impressive, and blown away that it's only 1 of 4 low mileage beauties offered by this seller. 2 of them only have 11,000 miles! Don

Not factory spec wheel weights. MB used tow piece weights that clip to the wheel lip. I see the service docs are stamped by a Denver MB dealer, wonder how it ended up in Jersey?

Nice looking car, but I'm with the poster that observed it will need a lot of rubber replaced.
