which manual throttle part has given up here?

something has come undone in my "throttle" mechanism and i can't tell yet which part is at fault, so i'd like some advice, please! the fat rubber buffer in front of the bracket on the firewall goes all askew off to the side when the throttle is in the accelerating position. seems like the connection to that yellowed plastic knob behind the bracket is defunct. it actually fell apart today as i was pulling onto the freeway, and after coasting onto the shoulder i got it back together well enough to get home, but geez.... thanks for any tips.

Accelerator Linkage-Pivot Mount

If you buy a better quality MB part it's about $65 and would probably last another 30 years, aftermarket $30 and who knows how long the Chinese elastomer will last.

very helpful folks, thank you. there are 00 40 and 13 40 and though my '77 chassis calls for 00 40, it looks like the one which has now failed is 13 40, presumably because of my engine swap. i guess the 00 40 does not pull on a rod to the side like the 13 40 does.

dutch store with an impressive price on 00 40

The Plastic Ball on the one type wears and in fact crumbles apart.

You will likely find a nice circular groove worn into the from of the Plastic Ball
