Door Lock Striker - W123

Its finally time to replace the drivers side door striker. It looks like my only choices are only Meyle or Uro (perhaps they are both from the same manufacturer).

Recommendations? Other options?

Buy one used? They should be readily available.

Yards usually are next to nothing or free. I saw the plastic only available for very inexpensive but don't know where. Of course, you've seen the URO thread?

Absolutely, and I'm fairly certain the Meyle part is form the same source.

Do you have any junk yards in your area? or maybe some one close by on CL parting out a W123?

The rear door Striker will be the same as the front door Striker on the same side. Usually the rear doors do not get the heavy use as the front doors.

I'll take a look and perhaps I can find a few this week. On a positive note all four of the hex bolts popped free with minimal effort. Thanks.

It turns out that there is still a dealer option for the W123 door strikers. The original W123 striker is superseded by the W126 part.

In this case A1237200104 = A1267200104.

It has a different shape on top of the metal housing, but fits it well and works well. Installed and working.

The unit is side specific. The plastic piece can be swapped and installed on either side front or back. That part is on the grab all you can get while at the yard. Vac pods and mono valve are others. Of course, I'd love to find console wood.

Perhaps we need a thread - Parts to Snag

The after markets are junk

I bought 1 for the drivers side on ebay, I thought it was Meyle but now I can't remember... anyway it didn't really work, meaning I dove the car for a month with the door "half latched", they sure are pretty though. I have 2 you can have them both for $5 bucks each just to pay for shipping. I robbed the ones off a high mileage 85 300d with the rubber bits and they work great. I put the backs on the fronts and vice-versa. Be careful the bolts are very soft.

Thanks, but I did find a OEM unit from a dealer online. They sent a W126 striker saying it is the superceded part, it was physically different but it fit and works OK.

I need to do a bit more adjustment, the door shuts very nice but I have a bit of wind noise around the upper door edge at higher speeds.

I think I go lucky that all four bolts popped loose with nominal force.
