Someone tried to hack my PeachParts account

This morning, PeachParts reported that someone tried to hack my account. Anyone else have this happen recently?

tbomachines 08-29-2015 09:32 AM

Happened to me a couple weeks ago, spoofed IP near my reported location. Haven't experienced any issues as far as credit cards compromised or anything. I think someone else posted about it happening to them as well, not sure what is going on

I only use credit cards online and throw them away when hacked or full. Also grocery store wasn't accepting debits nationally yesterday. Their machines were up. Apparently they've been hacked.

Thankfully, no, or should I sAy, not yet.
Hope nothing else was comprised.

I hope this message didn't send you a link that said to provide your credit card details to prove your identity!

Are you sure it was from peachparts? And not someone spoofing peachparts? Could be that someone hacked their servers and pulled down an unencrypted email list and is sending phishing emails to everyone.

tbomachines 08-29-2015 12:16 PM

The email comes from peach parts and is a notification that your password failed 5 times. It also lists the offending IP.

Weird. You'd think no time would be wasted on a site like PP when a hacker could be going after valuable monitary information sites.

vstech 08-29-2015 04:14 PM

Just don't click on any links in emails. .. bad things happen.

Pelican is a decent size business, selling Porsche, mb and Audi parts. It isn't just our little faction of diehard rusty MB owners. Purely speculative but in my experience with ecommerce companies they're probably in the 8 figure territory. Lots of customers and lots of business. Well earned, too!

I know PeachParts is a large company, but it seems the OP's forum account was what was attempted to be hacked. There's no money here, just car talk. If the company server was hacked and credit card info stolen, that'd be different. Why would someone want to try and hack a forum profile though? It's stupid.

I got that notice too.

vstech 08-30-2015 12:04 AM

Hmmmm

vstech 08-30-2015 12:07 AM

I just went through my PP email, and there was an email about a friend request... odd, there was no official friend request made on the forum...
I'm thinking it's phishing... all of it.
