I was just attempting to highlight the misconception how legislation really protects us. The first company to start CO2 ground injection some 12 years ago won many praises from government. So just hide or disperse the bad stuff and all is good??

The problem as I see it is that the energy efficiency of going the synthetic CO2 to hydrocarbon route is not close to practical when compared to using the energy either directly to run an electric motor, or to make hydrogen and use a fuel cell to run an electric motor. Removing CO2 and the advantages of a liquid fuel would be attractive, but I think the poor efficiency of the internal combustion engine will eventually cause it's demise.

While the technical efficiency of the internal combustion engine may be low.... going to those other powering methods means replacing every in service IC engine in the world.
Liquid Diesel could still be used ( in a totally green sustainable fashion) while all those diesel trucks which are used across the world to keep food and fiber and people moving where they need to go keep on trucking. If green diesel is available then some past prime movers like Steam could be used with impunity. Energy will go the route of spices... and many other things.... to where the important factor is sustainability and lack of bad effects upon the environment .... and not the actual input of power to achieve it.... if we are lucky.

I'll just keep burning 75 cetane renewable diesel, minding my own business.
