'85 300D/CD/TD toolkit

Does anyone out there have a took kit that they KNOW is complete for this series of car....that they could post or email me a picture of? I'm trying to figure out whether I've got the "right" stuff....and have all of it.

Thanks!

Jim Steere

I was wondering the same thing myself. The tool kit in my 80 has different brands of wrenches and I was curious as to what the right mix of tools are. When I get a chance today I'll make a list and post it,brand and size, maybe you could also.

Heres a pic of mine. Sorry for it not being clean and orderly I just went out there and took the shot. There isn't much I can't do to a W123 with this assortment of tools. The tools I use for pulling a head and doing big stuff stays in the rollaround. I usually keep this box in the trunk of whichever W123 I am in at the time.

Factory tool kit

OK Jim,here it is,everything fits neatly in the (original?)MB burgandy tool roll except the lug wrench.
  • 17mm Hazet lug wrench
  • 2 pc sparkplug socket wrench
  • 6" Hapewe pliers-no MB logo
  • 6" Felo screwdriver c/w 2 double end blades-1 phillips,1 slotted-no MB logo
  • Open end Wrenches
  • 8/10mm Matador
  • 11/13 Heyco
  • 14/17 Unior
  • 17/19 Walter
  • 1 Sunroof socket-in holder on left quarter panel in trunk
They would seem to be the original tools, but I'm not sure. They had a few little rust spots where the plating chipped off and I cleaned them up and put a little silver tremclad on the spots. They look new but the piping on the tool roll is very stiff and cracking Anyone else?

I have two factory kits in my car, one of which has never been used and still has the wrapping on it (though a bit ripped). I use a kit from a 124, its the same thing but I have to check back with you on the two. I will try to get a picture of it for you when I get home.

I still have the original tool set.
I don't understand why they included a spark plug socket for a diesel engine car.
The tool set didn't have a 12 mm wrench. Is 12 mm wrench not a standard wrench? The glow plug is 12 mm.

Anyway, these are my thoughts about MBZ tool set.

W123 tool kit.

Ok. I finally did some (expensive) research into the subject. I won't have my digital camera back until late tonight....but I'll take a picture, and make a list and post it, of a "fer' sure" correct/complete/original tool kit for an '83 240D. It was kind of expensive. I had to buy the car to get it......

BTW....I guess the one from my 300TD wagon IS complete after all. That was the root of my original question.

Thanks...

Jim

Thanks Elatu, that looks about the same as mine except that your missing the screwdriver handle and a double-ended bit for it.David the sparkplug socket wrench is for the sunroof (when the motor fails),if you have a sunroof you should also have a socket for it like I described above.
