Hello,

I found a 1987 turbo diesel at a u-pull-it. Is there anything worth getting from the engine? It has 104,000 on it but the yard is not sure if the engine runs. I don't want to waste my time pulling the engine if I cant here it run.

What does the peanut gallery say?

Pull what you need. Don't pull what you think you need down the road. I have done it many times and it is all in the garage pile. If the car was crashed from the front, side or back then pull the engine. The likelihood of engine was 'running' is high with body damage.

I'm into 617's at the moment but down the road I could see me doing a engine swap if I found a running engine.

Here in Chicagoland I don't see very many diesels in the yards when I'm out "antiquing"
I'll go by that yard again tomorrow and if its still there and I dont pull anything Ill post which yard its in

What # head does it have? If it's s 22 grab it and the injectors.

It was a #14 head. If anyone cares its in the LKQ lot on 13800 s Western in Blue Island Il. all other parts were still on the engine as of Friday 9/18
