The lowest I've gone is 57.27 Litres, which is close to VStechs 16 gallons. My bloody meter doesn't work, and will remain at half tank until about 500+ km and then suddenly drop to the reserve area. I'm currently getting about 8.8 L/100 km. I don't know what that is in terms of MPG, but I feel confident I can go over 600 km (372 mi) on a tankful.

I always thought the 124 got better mileage than the older 123, but my experience hasn't proven that. Then again, I never drove my 123 like a bat outta hell. The 124 somehow MAKES me want to drive er...spiritedly.

I fix the meter on my last week and went to fill it up and it took 16 gallons I thought the tank on wagon was smaller then the sedan I did some research and they the same size 18.5 American gallons (except for the 95) I already traveled 385 miles and I still have like a 1/4 left on the tank but my has a 5 speed manual transmission

That's pretty impressive. Is that mostly highway? I would be interested to know what your range is until empty. 18.5 gallons. Thats 70 litres. So when I'm thinking its empty it still has about 10 litres left in the tank!

BTW, how did you fix the meter? Mine will show half tank and then suddenly drop to reserve when its close.

I usually average 25mpg mixed city/rural at each fill, a bit higher on the freeway but with the automatic I'm spinning pretty well at 75mph, ...rarely see 30mpg or better.

I don't abuse mine, but do have a bit of a heavy foot. My mileage currently is about 2mpg better than with the original engine (which ran fine), I believe that the injection pump and timing change, newer cam, and lower RPM shift points all have contributed to this improvement (keep logs of all fill-ups for over 50,000 miles).

All pump diesel and of course winter fuel is not as good, but it rarely leaves the garage in the winter.

My understanding is the wagons are like the sedan. 18.5 gallons with 2.5 gallon reserve.

Full down to the warning light is 16 gallons. Then you've got 2.5 left in the tank. That's why most people report it as a 16 gallon tank.

Only the 500E and 95 E300 had the 21 or 22 gallon tank.
