where does this window slide go
I'm changing the window regulator because the motor is shot. This was in the bottom of the door and I have an extra but don't understand how it mounts. Most of the threads deal with the other slide that must be peened onto the regulator.

I had a 1973 450SEL and the sliding jaw came apart for replacement rather than having to be peened in like my new 1981 300SD. I am wondering if what you have is an earlier sliding jaw? And maybe it does not go with your SD?

Take a look at the bottom picture of step 9. It should explain what you want.

Took apart the whole mechanism, including the motor, which, by the way, is completely serviceable in my 124. That white piece had me stumped for awhile though. The way it was installed when we removed it, didn't seem right. Flipped it around and voila...everything moved smooth as butter. This PDF would have quite a bit of time!

It took me a while to figure out. I'm working on an 48SD. The piece goes onto the vertical window channel at the back of the door and then into the lower channel on the window. I cleaned both channels with brake cleaner then applied a very small amount of grease. Too much grease always attracts dirt and eventually clogs things up.
I never did find a really good way to manipulate and hold the window but eventually everything lined up. I'll call Peach & see whether they can get alternatives to what they list currently - OE parts and URO. OE is too expensive. I expect that part is missing from the other doors because I've never seen it and have had window regulators out. Now onto the next project.
