Just ranting. Don't remember oil cooler lines being so difficult
I've replaced 2 sets on the 85SD & figured the 84 wouldn't be any problem especially with the shorter lines of Mach's AN mod. DG says the upper will have you cussing in German.
I'm working on the install & have turned the hard line every which way (except the correct one - obviously). I'm downloading the Deutsch learning app now hoping to skip directly to the cussing part of the tutorial. Will return to the cooler lines tomorrow. Sleeping on it usually solves puzzles. Just in case: Any secrets on the install?

Don't forget to unplug your AC compressor elec. connection. Easy to internally damage the connection which is then cause to remove the compressor. You know how I know

Yeah, I dunno...Those oil lines are a bear. I had to do it twice on Betsie. Best thing that worked for me:
1) Bring the lines in from the back. They will touch the transmission. I would put them in in the correct orientation, then rotate them from there to get them passed all the corners. 2) Have a helper! If you can get someone to help you, just to help guide them in from above, that will be so helpful. They don't even need to know much of anything about cars, as long as they understand a triangle doesn't fit the square hole... 3) Curse. Oh, so....much...cursing. I really don't have much advice, except for having a helper if you have that possibility, because with one I had my lines in really quickly. Fun fact: After I got the lines in, I had the hardest time getting the engine lined up with the drivers side mount. That took another full evening!

unbolt the compressor from the block... let it hang.
the lines will slide in easily.

I think it was vstech that said to install the motor mount bolts loose. That works for the mounts of course after the lines are in.
