diesel fuel line stuck - 99' E300
Help! Why is this so hard to remove?
I'm just starting the process of replacing my fuel lines and gaskets and broke one of the white horseshoe type fitting/clamps at where it attaches to the injection pump. I've pulled with all my strength using a set of pliers, and this thing won't move. Am I in trouble now that this fitting is gone? Any suggestions ? Am I doing something wrong? Experienced hands with answers appreciated, thanks. Tim |

Try giving it a twist. It is just held in by the collar, (that you broke off), and the o-ring.
The white horseshoes need to be pushed "in" to remove the fitting. Pulling them "out" locks the collar in place. New fuel lines with fittings are not very expensive.

Yes I know about the "push in" to release, and I have all new lines with viton gaskets ready to install.
I've tried twisting as I pull and man, it is not moving. I'm almost afraid to pull harder since there is more stuff nearby and I'm worried that when the fitting lets go, I'll bang and break something else. So the broken fitting isn't locking the line by default, correct? Any other ideas? |

It looks like the locking paws are broken off so you might as well grab it with a pair of pliers and wiggle/rock/pull it straight up and off. The only thing left holding it is a stuck o ring.
