W210 wheels on a W211 CDI

Hello,

I looked all over several forums for a definitive answer on if 210 wheels will work on my 211 CDI. Some said yes, some no, and some said with special lug nuts. Well, I pulled out a lug from my 211 and stuck it into a 210 rim, and it would not fit in the smaller hole. So short answer is no.

Can i get a 14 mm aluminum drill bit and enlarge the holes? would this be safe? would the lug nuts seat correctly? I want to mount winter tires, without having to take them off the rims twice a year. I have two 211 CDI cars, and have two sets of 210 wheels that i used for winter tires for the 124s.
