Spring Compressor on 126 vs 123

Using the aftermarket spring compressor, does one need to enlarge the hole in the 126 spring tower in order to insert the spring compressor shaft, as IS necessary on a 123?

Reason: I need a suspension part which is common to both, but the 126s are more available at the Pick-a-Parts.

Thanks

(EDIT: The part needed is a Guide Rod.)

No need to enlarge the hole on the W126 chassis.

Glad to help.

The Steering knuckle is the same also (Spindle assy)
I pulled a set off a 2nd gen W126 think 91 and they are on my 85 300D with new Lemforder BJ`s..
Had to cut off the sensor for the ABS? filed off the pin to clear something,
and stuck in into the hole just to fill it up.
They are all POR`d and pretty. One of these day I might actually get this car back on the road.

Just thought I would throw this in there since you will be using the Spring Compressor.

I would unbolt the guide rod carrier from the bottom of the car and take the whole thing. Perhaps use a ratchet strap around the bumper to relieve the tension but then you have to figure out how to relieve the tension on the strap. Don't tie off to something outside the car or the car could come down on your head.

That said, both of my SDs have needed guide rod mounts and finding a good set in the yard may be difficult. The SD I'm working on now also needs the bushings in the carrier of which there are 2 different bushings in each carrier so total of 4/car ~ $80 for the bushings. I couldn't find Lemforder so settled on Myle. I'll know in a few years whether that choice was a mistake.

This is for my 240TD. Doing the whole front end. I was cleaning the guide rods up and found that the left one is bent.
