O-rings for the fuel filter bolt
Are the two o-rings that go on the fuel filter bolt a dealer only item? They need to be bio resistant and I haven't found anything through my normal channels......For an 84 300sd

I don`t know about Bio resistant, but Auto Zone sells a box of "O" Rings in various sizes for around $8.
I use these, but I run pump Diesel only. When I come up to Oregon, I notice they usually have Bio mixed in the fuel, don`t remember the %. Also in the "O" Ring box, one of the sizes fits the stem on the oil filter lid. Charlie sent from my pos computer

I always use Mann fuel filters, and they always come with the two o rings needed for the 60x. They are plain rubber. You can run biodiesel with plain hoses, but they might need replacing sooner than with petro diesel. They'll last you a couple years anyway, and that's long enough on one fuel filter. If you're really needing a resistant o ring, you need ones made of viton. I'd say just get a bit on assortment and find one that fits.

Careful...there are many different types of rubber. At a minimum, you want buna-N, but you should use viton if you need something more durable. You can order them by the pack from McMaster.

Viton o-rings are available for various models of MB from fryerpower.com. Pelican might also have Viton and they support this web site so it's nice to patronize them.
You can usually get away with the factory o-rings, seals, hoses, etc., up to 20% biodiesel but for richer blends Viton is recommended. Jeremy

The kit pictured will have what you need, NOT VITON.

Autozone sells the Autozone sells a Metric O-ring assortment made by Dorman for less than $8.
Dorman Metric 172 piece O-ring Value Pack #799-450 In it are 24 of the 6mmIDx10mmODx2mmW O-rings that you need for the bottom of the Oil Filter Stem: enough for 12 O-ring changes if you use the same sized O-rings each time you change it. 6mmIDx10mmODx2mmW is the stock size for both O-rings. On 617.952s you can substitute a 7mmx11mmx2mm in the upper groove on the Oil Filter Stem instead of the 6mmx10mmx2mm (This was suggested by another member and I did it and it works; since I bought the kit I do this on mine.). If you do that you have enough O-rings for 24 O-ring changes.
