Mercedes Diesel in Salvage Yard
Kind of a follow-on to the "tipping point" thread. There's a 300D in the yard in Conway, SC if anyone wants to go picking. Think it's an '83 but I might be off a year. I think they get $350 for an engine ($300 for the engine and $50 deposit - I'm assuming we won't have a core). The trans will be $150 unless it's a stick, which is cheaper. At our PnP they try to talk the price up if it's a Diesel but if you stick to your guns they'll let it go for the price on the website (I've seen it happen).
I don't need anything right now or I'd drive down. We have an '87 300D in our yard (Cape Fear PnP in Wilmington - both are the same company) but of course that won't be a 617 so no good to me. Their website doesn't say what has already been picked so you're forewarned. Happy Hunting Dan |
