Fix your Alda!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6TZ2bnlAjI
Dieselmeken posted a video showing how to fix the Alda seal... it so simple... I'm going to have to do this and put mine back on. |

Good info. So if this is leaking, the piston in the ALDA will not push down when pressure(boost pressure) is applied and then in turn not letting the injection pump richen the mixture under boost, meaning less power output, correct?

I have read those Philips screws are very hard to undo, and you end up stripping them. Someone recommended an old fashioned manual impact hammer.

In the video it looks like he used a cordless impact driver, so you could try that if you have one.

Nothing. Just unscrew it and leave it off.

I had a hell of a time getting one off a salvaged car, never did get it done. What was I doing wrong, any idea?

Did the video mention the correct size of the seal?

I used thin service wrenches.

It's hard to tell from the video, but I don't think those are Phillips screws...they look like Pozidriv screws. Phillips drivers are similar, but not interchangeable. If you use a Phillips bit on them, they'll just strip. You'd need to pick up an appropriate bit at an industrial supply place. Then again, maybe they're just plain old Phillips.

This is the thread where I got that info a while back:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/69422-om603-alda-removal-instructions-5.html In post 62, gsxr comments on difficulty in removing the philips screws. I don't have any first hand experience since I chickened out and decided to just leave my alda in place.
