blower motor speeds up when turning?

I've just started driving a '87 300TD and I've noticed that what sounds like the blower motor starts spinning like it's on the highest setting when I'm making a left hand turn. At first I thought it might be a wheel bearing, but I just replaced those and the noise is still there on left hand turns.

I suspect it is either the blower motor regulator or the push button unit since the blower never fully turns off (even when the push button is in the far right off position), however I'm a bit perplexed by why it is happening when I turn.

Has anyone ever experienced something similar to what I'm describing?

Ah I bet!

Don't they still use a foam tube for the sampler sensor? I think I remember seeing it in the sun visor header area...
