K1 vs K2 spring

I read somewhere that the K1 and K2 springs are the same so I got a couple of K1 spring kits since I have the tranny out of the car. I lost orientation so I'll change to calling them K-forward and K-aft. Anyway, both original springs look the same between perches but K-forward in the yellowish holder has a twice-as-long separate spring than K-aft in the green holder. The 126 270 44 77 kit comes with a short separate spring. I suppose I can replace the K-aft kit completely and replace just the compound assembly of K-forwrd. Thoughts?

I got this transmission out of a wrecked car so I don't know if/how it ran. Residual fluid looked overdue for a change but minimal sludge in the pan (no magnet).
