Shock Install

I am going to buy 4 new HD bilstein shocks, 2 front and 2 rear. Besides buying the shocks, do I need to purchase anything else. I saw that some places state that the shock mounts not included? I see that you can buy shock mount kits? The place where I am going to buy the shocks have a pic of the bilstein shocks and the mounting bushings with large washer. I didn't know if you have to purchase anything else?

Thanks!

Yes to dust boots and bump stops on a 190 or 124, or any chassis with front struts, but what model are we actually talking about?

You will need a 10mm 12pt. socket to detach the lower end of the front shocks. (1/4" drive fits the best)

Depending on the wrench, an offset 10mm box end may suffice. Try it before you pull anything.

Also, I have found that they do have heavy duty B6 Bilstein shocks available through the german websites and that summit racing sells them. They are double the price of B4 heavy duty's but I do plan on lowering the vehicle. Has anyone here used the the B6 bilsteins instead of the B4's???
Thanks

Id very strongly suggest 6 pt sockets NOT 12pt.

New can of Kroil. Penetrating-Lubricating Oils

That particular bolt requires a 12 pt. because it has a 12 pt. head. It is the only 12 pt. socket I have.

The front shock lower bolts are 12 point units.

You'll need a thin walled socket too, came with the set I bought years ago, but doubt that happens anymore.

Nope. Not that I'm aware of. I've bought/changed-out several sets of Bilsteins for numerous vehicles, and they always came complete as you've described.
