240D Rides Like a Dream

Finally finished with the projects needed to get my new-to-me 240D driving like it should. They included brake booster and MC, new tires and shocks and, finally, new rear sway bar links to replace the ones that basically weren't there. All told, I've added about $1000 to my initial $1500 investment. Boy, I'm pleased with the result. It's really an ideal daily driver now. Only thing left is to have JamesDean rebuild my cruise amp.

I've had that dream, too. The one where everything moves REALLY slowly and it takes forever to get anywhere!

Just kidding, of course. Glad it's doing what you need and want it to do.

That's certainly true, but it's perfect for my sons to drive around our small town and the surrounding countryside. This morning my son asked, "Dad, is there any way we can make the Benz any faster." "No, son, I'm afraid not."

My 14 yr old will get an SD when he learns to drive. Big, safe, slow. What else can a parent want his adolescent son to drive around in? I figure he'll likely walk away if he bounces it off another car or tree. Alternatively, he may purchase anything he can earn the money to pay cash for - and get his mother's approval to drive.

About Sound

FWIW ;

the original Beckers make good quality sound , if you add an amp or two and up grade the speakers it'll sound great and no one will ever break a window trying to steal your Chinese stereo....

I wish it still had the Becker. My old 250C had a Europa that did quite well. This has a crappy generic stereo that no one would open an unlocked door to steal.

And therin lies the rub Scott ~

thieves are not known for their intelligence , anything they see that's not stock will instantly become worth grabbing .

many years ago I left my convertible unlocked with NO RADIO and maps and some loose wires hanging out the hole in the dashboard ~ they stupidly cut the brand new $1,500 (in the 1980's) Haartz cloth top , ruining it.....
