need new headlight lenses

there are two options 176mm and 165mm. roughly 7" and 6.5".

are they both alright to use. or should I be using one or the other.

not sure which is the drop in replacement.

got a crack on my h4 conversion lenses and want to swap out both.

these are hella vision h4 kits I'm looking at.

thx as always

Off hand I think the 176mm are the ones that I used.

The larger rounds are 7" = 177mm.

If you are going to replace the fog lights and use them as additional headlights, they are 5 3/4" = 146mm.

Be aware that the Hella E-codes are flat and give a little different look than the stock concave lenses.

I replaced mine on w124 . And if your head lights are the same idea as the ones i have with lugs moulded in to the outer case ? You need to use large plastic wood clamps to take pressure off the seal inside .If you dont , as you lift over the 4 lugs they will snap off as they are old and brittle thats , if you go about it wrong. So in the end you will need new head lights. But some had metal clips with hole in , then you just push screwdriver in the hole in the clip and spring it off.

just a heads up- the hela vision 176mm are h4, but the glass is DOT compliant.

The set has the h4 bulb that is replaceable, but the light pattern is DOT spec. My previous set was bosch e code "motorcycle".

The light patterns are different for these.

Not bad, but I think I will get a set of ecodes with the cutoff.

Just FYI, NAPA sells an amber seal beam fog light for about $16 a pop that is a perfect fit for the OEM Bosch. Not quite as bright as the halogen originals, but they get the job done. Don

What kind of beam pattern does it have? I suspect it has more upward facing light, I think that's what DOT requires (plus the 3 alignment pins on the glass).

I'm fairly certain I have these:
Hella 7" Round ECE Headlamp with city lamp. HL95146 | Rally Lights

Here are the bulbs:
Hella Automotive Light Bulbs, Bulb Type H 4

I believe mine are these:
H 412X H4/HB2/9003 60/55W Xenon Bulb, Premium | Rally Lights

As mentioned, they have a "flat " face, quite handsome, IMO. Also they seem to have an MB star when viewed from the front.
They have a sharp cut off as well.

Everyone with round lights should look into the Cibie lamps from Daniel Stern Lighting.com. The guy is a world renowned lighting guru and is SUPER helpful and sells REAL European stuff, not this fake DOT crap. He used to have light charts up online that show the difference between HELLAs, CIBIEs and US DOT lamps and the differences were substantial! I put a set in my old 67 Ford F-100 pick up and was blown away by how much more focused lighting I got compared to the HELLAs I had in my 67 Mustang. Also, the high beams with the HELLAS was always up in the trees for some reason!

He has CIBIE lamps and sells REAL European NAVRA and OSRAM bulbs.
