If Rube Goldberg suggestions are welcome, consider a system that burns CNG or LPG and plumbs cooled but still pressurized exhaust into the EGR valve. Use the CNG or LPG engine to run engine accessories so you're not throwing away the resource. The accessories will be happier running at constant rpm. Hmm... how do you attach a freewheel to the crank damper?

Um? Why?
CO2 dumped into the intake could stop a runaway...

OP wants to keep EGR active with a cooler, cleaner charge that doesn't gunk up the intake manifold.

Quote:
Rebuilt injectors from Greazzer Properly done drip timing Proper wastegate setting for stock boost Properly tuned ALDA Valve adjustment Build and install an oil catch can on the valve cover vent Cleaned EGR valve and tubing Cleaned intake manifold Problem solved, and much less expensive, complicated, and maintenance intensive than the OP's proposed contraption. Proper engine operation from being in tune will not produce a huge amount of soot. A catch can will separate the oil vapor from the blowby and prevent it from mixing with EGR gasses.
