Just bought a 2006 CDI tonight!!!!

A month ago I purchased a mint 1999 E300 Diesel in excellent condition for $3,900.00....... I was so impressed by this car that I went out tonight and purchased a 2006 cdi...... My 2002 ML500 is on its way out, so I've been saving money anticipating replacing it with another Benz. My very gorgeous 300SDL 1986 got totaled 2 days before Christmas and the insurance company gave me way more than I would have ever expected.... That said, I purchased both cars cash, I got the CDI tonight for $5,600.00..... Look at the pictures! :-)

It has 211K miles on it, one owner and was serviced by the Mercedes dealer from day one, exclusively. Everything appears to work but the panoramic roof motor is loud and sounds like teeth are broken and it needs replacing. Looks like the original owner took a loan on it last year and then defaulted on the loan and the bank repo'd it in November 2015..... I have all the service records and a carfax..... Didn't see any major repairs in the records, the original owner even bought his tires from the dealership..... I checked the car over, very tight engine, starts instantly and shuts-down instantly, transmission is smooth.... I was shocked at how it takes off when you give it a little pedal.... Never had one of these before so I figure if I don't like it I'll sell it..... From what I've read, I got it pretty much below market value

Congratulation! Do your due process and you won't be surprised.

Check for black death, ball joints, sway bars bushing, transmission and differential fluids, and you won't have much to worry about for a long time.

That's one hell of a price...I'm envious.

Usually the motor does not need replacing. The gear box will flex and the gears will not mesh. The cheap, redneck, repair is to make a clamp out of 2 pieces of stiff metal and bolt them across the box body so it cannot bulge out in the middle. 2 pieces of 1/4" thick x 1/2 wide x however long is needed to span the box plus 2 bolt holes, should do it.

What's the VIN ? I will get you the build card info.

That is an excellent price on a great looking rig.

I was looking at prices (for a laugh, it would seem) at CDI's in the Seattle area and it's completely insane. People are asking 12-15k for cars with that many miles (or more), AND with SALVAGE titles. I've been kicking around buying an 05-06 CDI for a while, definitely need to look in the Southeast for a more reasonable price.

I saw that one on CL and considered going to look at it, but it was a little far for me to travel at the time. Congrats!

I used KBB as a price measuring tool when buying mine. However, the high-mileage ones get kicked to the curb on pricing, I've noticed. While the low mileage units, command the higher dollars.

That is indeed true, but I'd take the higher mileage one over a low mileage one any day of the week. These cars need to be driven. I bought my W210 diesel with 260k miles on the clock, and perhaps I overpaid for it, but she runs a lot smoother and quieter than my gasser W210 which I bought dirt cheap with "only" 146k miles.

Given the choice between the gasser W210 and diesel W210, I'd take the one with higher mileage. Diesel is quieter on the freeway, is more comfortable (perhaps the seats are broken in?) and I don't feel much of the road vibration compared to the other one with half of the mileage.

Of course, I may have lucked out, since there are other people who simply ride and drive without putting a single iota of effort into maintenance...

...but damnit, give me the higher mileage one any day of the week!
