did you have success in getting the stuck 1/2 shaft out? hope so-

no...I never could get it out. I had 2 crow bars on it, and it would not move. I can only guess that the end of the axle is flared out.

The good news is that I was able to replace the differential and get another axle. The "clunking" problem is now repaired.
