1998 w210 e300d (non turbo) om606 Wiring loom part number?

Hi guys. I'm new to this forum but wondered if anyone could help?
I've recently bought the above car and someone has previously butchered up a wiring loom. Basically they've connected household earth cable (yep everything is yellow and green cable!) to the mb connectors on the upper engine wiring loom. When I say connected I mean they've cut the cables before the plug/connector and twisted the old cables around the new and put a little heat shrink over that! The old cables that are remaining are completely degrading and bare wire is visible in many parts. How a short circuit hasn't happened or the ECU didn't get fried I really don't know!.

I can post pictures if anyone wants a laugh or if it would help anyone identify the model number of the loom.

Obviously the current "loom" (I use the term very lightly) isn't an official mb part I can't find a mb part number for it.

Does anyone know where I'd be able to get the exact part number? Also I believe these looms are a well known problem and they were replaced by MB with a better loom. Would there be a different part number for the better replacement? Through a little research it appears they are expensive to replace from the MB dealer so I was thinking to buy a 2nd hand one from eBay and I'm sure with the two I could put together something good. If the MB price isn't as bad as I'm guessing then obviously I'd rather get that than spend a hell of a lot of time making up one myself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*Update*
I've spoken to a MB main dealer and they wont give me the part number.
They quoted £458.40 for the loom.
I'm hovering whether to go for that as it's a genuine MB part and whilst I could make one it would take quite a bit of time and no matter how good it still wouldn't be genuine MB.
I'd still love to know the part number or where I could go to find this out as at least then I could look for a 2nd hand loom.

These "cable harnesses" might be the bio-degradable ones that die anyway...

...the only number I can find to help is this one

2105400206

1998 Mercedes E 300 TURBODIESEL Sedan ENGINE CABLE HARNESS

Look at the picture and assess if you think that might be the one. Use this number with extreme caution!!! This is just something I found by looking for about 5 mins: It might not fit your car. It might, however, be a start...

Is the 1998 available in non-turbo in Europe? I always thought everything over there was turbo from 1997 on.
