best year for 420 sel

not a diesel question,but im interested in buying a 420 sel,just looking for the best year,if there really was much difference between years other than luxury stuff.i have had a sdl-86,so i am familiar with 126 chassis.

I always liked the later ones (89-91)....I have an 87 here thatis by far the rust bucket king. Not sure if the owner parked in a lake or what but man it has rust everywhere

Later the better...but I would take the best example I could find, regardless of year.

Interior was changed late 88 I recall for the '89MY. Better stereo system.
