				w123 sunroof seals- all four

My 1984 wagon sunroof leaks from the front drain. It looks like there are four drain seals in the w123 sunroof.

1984 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Base Wagon - Seals & Weatherstripping - Page 1 Uro sunroof seals have a horrid reputation. Who has experience with all the genuine MB seals and the wagon drains in the front? I've heard that the euro wagons have a slightly different set-up- but I have a domestic USA version. Looks like if I buy all the seals it's about $180. Let me know if you've undertaken this project. I did a search but still would like more direct experience. thanks |

				I have done all four

on my coupe. The rear requires removing the sunroof steel panel. Pretty straightforward except the front seal requires a little technique. Use lots of dishwash soap solution.

mercedes source dot com sells a step by step "manual" that I used. They also sell kits with the seals and tools. Some say they are too expensive but I find for a little more you get clear instructions, parts and the tools needed. BTW, I used URO seals. Been in there about 2.5 years. Fit was fine. I think they have improved over the years and get a bad rap for much of their stuff. |

I have 2 126 cars that have worn sun roof seals. Neither leaks into the cabin as long as the drains are clear (so far).

My Uro front seal didn't want to go in worth a crap, so it went to the trash can and I ordered a oem seal which I haven't installed yet.

The "seals" don't keep water out, they keep wind noise and trash out. There is no way to seal water out of a flush, flat surface like a car roof. If the drains are clear, water will be collected by the "tray" and directed to the drains. Hopefully your tray is intact and not rusted out.
