replacing the good old M115 to diesel 602-605

hi guys

first post to this forum
i am going to convert my 1976 409 fire truck to diesel, the 409 is our camper
wy? i need the power tinking about automatic trans and gasoline is !@$& expensive

already being reading a couple of days and need some advice

thinking about the OM 602 turbo 120 hp and even better the OM 605 turbo 150 hp

after i took al look at the 220cdi (4 cil, cheap and alot to buy) a saw that these engines are extremely wide,(220cdi 70 cm)the engine bay of my 409 is 50 cm,no problem to make this wider but 10 on each side is to much.

nu my question ,how wide is a 602 or a 695,replace the turbo some ware else is no problem ,ore making the intake piping shorter is no problem for me

thanks for advice

Welcome to the forum! I cannot answer your question but there will be plenty here who can. Some of us have been doing some odd swaps ourselves. I have a 1939 Studebaker truck I have put a 617 turbo in with a five speed overdrive tranny. Its not up and driving yet but it is getting close. There are some fellows here who have owned similar trucks to yours so they may be able to answer your question.
