E300D Power Steering Hose

'95 high pressure hose has pin leaks in the hose. What gives with this hose? Cannot find it anywhere - always told it is a "dealer item" for about $250+. So I see the hose for a "93 300D all over the internet and it looks the same, in the picture as mine. Ads say "not compatible" with mine. Different size fittings? Different length? Different hose grade? This hose can be bought for $60. Should I take a chance?

The only difference in the 93 300D hose and the 95 hose would be the length, the 93 model had a shorter 5 cyl engine. The PS pump on the last W124 are a bit higher pressure but I dont think the fittings were different.

If you cannot find this hose, why not find an oldschool truck shop and have them rebuild yours.

Yes, thought it would be something like length. Good advice about an old school truck shop. After all this fretting about spending $300 I took the hose to a place called Bridgestone - Hose Power in Orange Park. I think they have shops all over the state (Florida). For $11.82 the counter man rebuilt my hose while I waited. Go figure.

Post a photo of the hose. The hose in my W123 cars have "field repairable" fittings. Anybody can replace the hose w/ a few wrenches. Best hose to use is "2-wire" type (rated 3000 psig for hot hydraulic oil). It is very common, stocked at Tractor Supply, any hydraulic shop, etc. I bought some on ebay. Same deal w/ the SLS hoses in the wagons, and those guys posts informed me. Search for my post w/ photos.

BTW, the hose M-B used in my cars was just polyester re-inforced (no steel) and I think rated to 1000 psig. In my 1984, it started leaking tiny drops right thru the center. You could see them flow out as you turned the steering wheel and built pressure.

Have read about the "field repairable" hoses somewhere around here. This hose is not field repairable. New hose/original fittings is now 2000 psi. Anyhow, will install it today and see how it performs.
