Vacuum Diaphrams
Are the eterior upper diaphrams on the vacuum elements repairable or replaceable?

Yes, they are replaceable, and I hear they're pretty cheap as well. As far as how to do it, someone else will have to help you out...I haven't done it myself.

If you mean the diaphrams on the door lock's
It's pretty easy. There is a mount/flange that holds all 4 diaphrams in place. You just slide the metal top of the diaphrams out of the flange(s). It just pops out with a firm tug. Then you just peel the diaphram off. Replacement is the opposite.
Just make sure that you mark which vacuum hoses go to which fittings or you will reverse the lock/unlock. Test it just to make sure. Good luck JCD

In the '82 and up cars, the vac elements were the submarine style and not the simple kind with the 4 replaceable diaphrams in the '81 and older cars. I think he has to replace the entire vac element.

Vacuum Diaphrams?
Either of these help? Are either the "Submarine Type"?
