Ordered a W123 Alternator Voltage Regulator and got THIS??

I was expecting the regulator with two protruding brushes that is commonly seen.

But I was sent this from MB UK. Any idea what this part is?

Thanks!

It is a voltage regulator, just never seen one like that.
I did a Google search on the part#

https://www.google.com/search?q=valeo+9rc7020&biw=1093&bih=521&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjA4_GTu73MAhXIKCYKHVroDv0Q_AUICSgE&dpr=1.25

The vendor sent you the wrong regulator.

Mercedes does use Valeo as a vendor. It's probably to a much newer car.

Yes, the part number of the supplied incorrect regulator is 002 154 42 06.

The Bosch Alternator on the car has a part number 0120489935.

I have a 97 E320 that has a Valeo alternator where my 97 C280 and 97 SL320 have a Bosch. I'm not sure when MB started to use Valeo.

That part appears to be for a Motorola alternator. There is a picture part way through this post.

Did the OP verify that they have a Bosch alternator? The other possibility is that the alternator was changed from one brand to another along the way, if so , this isn't the fault of the parts store.

Mercedes confirmed that this is the wrong part and that my alternator is the upgraded air con Bosch unit. A replacement has been sent to me. Thanks for the help lads!
