a/c issues

I have an 84 300d and the ac will not blow cold through the vents, only blows really hot air, the compressor is working and so is the aux fan and the lines are getting cold, ac compressor comes on with the dial is turned on heat or cold and buttons turned on vents or floor. Compressor only turns off when it's on the ec button or climate control is turned off completely, I checked the mono valve and seems to be stuck and the seal is really torn , maybe a possible cause?

yup. you found the issue... you could put a valve in the heater line for the time being...

it could also be the air director pod... if it's stuck sucking outside air, you get poor cooling as well.

"Hot" air on May 3 is surely from hot water, unless you live near the southern border. Easiest is to just clamp off the heater hose, wherever convenient, like next to the oil filter. A dollar store spring clamp or chem lab bar type would work. More elegant is to swap the hose from the R side engine to run to the tube going to the mono-valve, thus bypassing the heater core, but more work.

When you refer to the buttons as "vents" or "floor", it is obvious you didn't read the Owners Manual and think the arrows have an easy interpretation. German engineers are not so obvious. The AC shouldn't engage for the "EC" button (hence the economy). The center vents should only blow in "cooling mode", though mine blow wimpy even then. Ideally the "2 white arrows" button should only be used in climate emergencies. The "1 white, 1 black arrows" button is the normal one to use, and the "auto" fan button, except when you really need defrost. But, if like my 1984 & 1985, the auto climate controls are quirky at best and obnoxious most of the time.

Repair your monovalve

Replace the insert and all will be well. An inexpensive repair at about $40 for the part and ten minutes of your time.

A torn monovalve diaphragm will pump full heat that will overwhelm your a/c.
