OM606 OM60x Belt Tensioner Lever | Reference

After browsing the Board for info on replacing the lever assembly. I wanted to post a photo of the parts and list the part number for anyone in the future looking for this info. The tensioner on my vehicle is original and utilized this bushing style as a replacement.

606 200 01 73 - Belt Tensioner Lever for Tensioner Pulley
606-202-01-20 - Pivot Pin
606-202-00-60 - Seal Ring
606-990-00-40 - Washer

You can easily find the 17mm hex socket @ Harbor Freight in a set of sockets

OM606 OM60x Belt Tensioner Lever | Reference

When I did this I also found that the part numbers below were not present on the car.

606-202-00-22 Cover
601-202-05-22 Cover

I put those back figuring that they were there at some point for a reason.

Those covers are extremely important. They keep dirt out of the bearings.

If you don't install the covers you will be doing this again very soon. They cost like a couple of dollars each.

Also make sure that when you remove the old tensioner (the big bolt) there is a washer between the lever and the head. Very important that you confirm the old one comes off and you put a new one on before installing the tensioner. If you do not heed this it will trash the timing cover.

The washer is huge (larger than the old half dollar coins for those of you who remember those) and it will likely be stuck on the back of the old lever. Just be sure that the washer is not stuck on the cover and then you put another on top of it.

If you forgot to order a washer and your old one is in decent shape it can be moved over to the new lever.
