Bosch VS German regulators

Had to field repair my sons 1985 300D charging problem when he was downstate at college . Since I didn't know what the problem would be I came prepared with the alternator I stripped from his mothers car. Ended up swapping out the regulators to get it going
but the brushes on the replacement were short but better then the ones I took out. Each alternator had a different brand of regulator, Bosch was one and the other name got wiped away during cleaning.
Question : What is the difference between the Bosch and the German Brand they are selling at a 40 dollar difference ????
Since I will be rebuilding two and I might as well get one for my 300SD , buying three is a considerable amount of money saved if I go with the cheaper set.
Any Thoughts
PS I video taped the repair, If anyone needs to see how its done I can email you the clip.
