Buzzing noise

I have an issue that just started today.

77 240D Automatic.

Suddenly, while driving down the road, a buzzing noise started coming from the center console. Like, an electronic buzzing. However, it stops when either the blinker or the hazards are on. What in the WORLD could that be?

Thanks,
ElcaBob

I'd say its the flasher switch/device going bad. I've never experienced it but that makes sense to me.

Sounds like a relay on its way out...had something similar in the CCU on the 84 300D I owned.

a capacitor failure in the flasher switch can also mess up the flashing frequency. mine was way too fast after the cap(s) went out. however, that lit up the blinkers, and it's not clear if the same is happening here.

unplug the hazard switch and see if it stops.
