OM606 hose underneath IM, where does it go?

Ok, so I've been working on diesel leaks on my OM606.910 NA diesel.

When I remove the intake manifold, underneath there was a hose loose. Please see pictures below - it's the one going up in the first picture, or coming out of connection #6 in second picture. Where should it go? What's it for?

Thanks a ton in advance!

Both the "up" and "down" hoses go to actuators (flaps). One you can see in your first picture, at bottom. The other (loose hose) is in the crossover tube. The hose popped loose when you lifted the crossover up and out. You may want to trim the hose a bit to get "new" rubber that will grip better. Thanks for providing good pictures.

So that's what a N/A OM 606 manifold looks like from the bottom!

I have the turbo 606, it does not have the flaps. Just the boost and EGR hoses.

I have a '98 e300 which has a different 606 engine. I had a fuel leak from a crack in the shut off valve. I didn't discover it until the second time I took off the intake manifold to deal with the leak. Check the shut off valve for leaks.

Also, there is a sold separately, small lime colored O ring on the fuel line that fits on the engine side of the shut off valve and is attached to it with a banjo bolt. Make sure you have it before you start or you may be making a special trip to the dealer to get it. That O ring is on the banjo bolt and not on the fuel line.
