A/C blower for W123 240D/300D

Hello,

I had air conditioning installed in my gasoline W123. Part of that involved replacing the heater box with one from a diesel W123 (had to get the heater box from the US).

The problem is that the heater box came without the blower and the blower that originally was in my car spins in the wrong direction, depending on the polarity I either get very little air or a lot of noise and even less air.

Could you tell me the part number of the "correct" blower? The blades should be different than the blades in a W123 2L gasoline without AC.

The blowers changed over the years. What year is your evap/heater box?

How do I find it out? Preferably without taking the dash out again.

It looks like the one in the attachment.

How do the other blowers differ? If it's just the mounting holes etc, then it can be persuaded to fit (they managed to get the current one to fit too), the main problem is getting one that spins in the right direction.

We need a photo of the bottom of the climate box. The blower is on the right side of your photo, underneath. Otherwise, it looks like the box in my 84 & 85 300D's. I had my blower out. It looks like a simple DC motor w/ brushes. I think with those you can always just swap the leads to make it spin the other way, but you are right that you would also need a "squirrel cage" with blades optimized for that direction.

I pulled a blower at the junkyard just to have on hand, maybe $15. Not selling it, but there are people who do that routinely and sell on ebay. One approach is to go to the row57 website (I get via PickNPull's site) and you can request parts from any car shown in their web search, and an independent picker may reply. Some may ship to Europe. Not all cars have photos, but they do give the VIN. Southern Cal and Miami are two graveyards for old M-B's, but they search the whole country.
