300d RADIATOR FIT 300sd??

Need some help. my radiator is full of holes loosing a lot of coolant and then overheat.
my friends brother in law has a 300D non turbo parts car, i saw the radiator looks like it will fit, the only diffrence is that it doesnt use a resorvoir like the SD,

could i install it to my sd ? i actually like a radiator that has a cap on it, not like the sd that doesnt

It will fit but will not perform as well. the overflow tank allows for more expansion of coolant without losing any. this extra capacity will be needed when the turbo is working which makes the engine throw off more heat such as cruising at high speed on a hot day or climbing mountains. If you are an easy driver you might never notice any difference. If using it I would add a catch tank on the overflow hose with about a quart capacity.

the fan shroud is different, you'll need to take that from the donor car as well

FWIW I was running a turbo engine with the standard radiator (ie not the bigger radiator) and never had any troubles with it however I don't have A/C nor a heavier 116/126 chassis.

From my research, that 300D non-turbo radiator is made of unobtanium. You would be better off selling that radiator and buying the proper one for the car. Our sponsor has them for around $250. As others have said, it is not really up to the task in front of a turbo engine.

thanks NZScott, well im down in baja Mexico, soo if its hard to come by these cars , its even harder to come by them down here, the car wont be running any ac and will be used for running around town, not long highway trips or climbs, im guessing it should be fine.
the radiator from the non turbo looks brand new , spotless inside and out. for 80 bucks.
its all i have found, cheap, and is in perfect shape. i think im gonna wing it.

and i do hear yall that say it wont handle the extra heat , but should work way better than overheating because im dripping water all over the street

Just keep an eye on it. I'd definitely install a catch can of some sort even if its a beer can.

The other problem you might have is that the oil cooler for the turbo is wider than the non, so both the turbo oil cooler and non turbo radiator will not fit in the width of the core support.

I take it that if i did swap them i would need to make an overflow tank and get the radiator with the shroud and the oil cooler also .?
the transmission connections and water hose connections are the same? all hoses will mate up?

I don't know about all the detailed compatibility but I want to warn if you take off the lines from the oil cooler be sure to use two wrenches as the fitting is very easily torn from the thin aluminum, ruining the oil cooler.

Some radiators may not have a trans cooler in them, such as those in a manual trans car. Make sure it has the cooler in the bottom tank.
