Drivers Rear View Mirror Keeps Falling

My '83 300 CD's drivers side rear view mirror keeps 'falling' down now that summer is here. (its been getting worse for a few years now)
Is there a way to tighten up (inside unit?) the linkage? Pass side is electric & no problemo.
I have not taken it off yet, but have on 300d sedans, & couldnt figure out how to get 'inside' those units. (<- been a few years)
Its mainly an annoyance, re-adjusting it every day, , , ,

The socket portion of the ball and socket joint may have broken or deformed.
Perhaps the adjustment screw may have loosened.

The adjusting screw is accessible from the inside of the car.
It is located under the plastic trim between the window frame and the manual window adjusting lever.

Didnt have to remove the trim, half the (common) screw was exposed through the opening.

The lil plastic 'clip' holding the handle on would not come off, like somebody glued it on, it has ridges to help remove it (?) but I really mauled it in removal, , , ,
