Another w123 lift thread - jack on rear subframe mount?

Ive read through a lot of threads on lifting and supporting w123 cars. Ive owned a number of these cars and usually are jacking up the front (easy between the crossmember and the boxed sections) or by the differential on the back. Ive not had to put the rear on jack stands, or had to lift up just one rear quarter.

So the angle here is to jack up just one rear quarter, only. Not by the diff, etc. Want to keep the opposite wheel on the ground.

So...

What is the best spot to do this?

Yes, I know, the unobtanium OE jack adapters.

Would a hockey puck or piece of thin cheap wood on the actual subframe mount (the round one with the cross pressed in and the bolt through) be acceptable?

My OE jacking point and the area around it are rust free and perfect, but I hate the thought of jacking up against sheetmetal in an area (even if supported) that can be seen and if flexed, create a lot of obvious cosmetic damage.

Recommendations? Stinks that they couldnt make dedicated jack pads like the newer cars...

I've never jacked the rear up at the subframe mount, but I do put it on jack stands there when I need the rear lifted. Never had an issue with this so I would think that jacking it up on that spot should be OK.

I'd be careful jacking a unibody car up on one corner though: you don't want the body to twist, but as long as you don't jack it sky high you should be fine.

Thanks. Yeah my curiosity is if the (slow) dynamics of lifting, plus notionally added compression from lufting would do bad things.

I'd guess no worse than a bad bump or hard acceleration.

I've seen lots of pics with jack stands, but not jacks...
