Trouble with W123 tach (OVP bad?)

Hi Everyone,

I just picked up a '85 300TD wagon. It's in serious need of help. One of these items is the tachometer doesn't work. After some reading, I thought it was the tachometer amplifier (which my year didn't have). I figured out I have an OVP and tested that out. The fuse was intact and after reading this site, I tested the contenuity of pins 30 and 87 (when car turned on, and OVP pulled slightly out). I got no reading, but I did measure 12V at both pins to a ground. I also pulled the relay out and jumped sockets 30 and 87, but to no avail. So it does seem that the relay is doing it's job. My main question is: now what? Are there any other symptoms of OVP not working? I heard that the A/C compressor also won't turn on, which it doesn't. But also the rest of my climate control system doesn't work, so I can't definitively point to the OVP. What next?

Thanks!
