can't locate the priming pump.

I can't seem to locate the priming pump on my 76 300d w115 I see the prefilter and the secondary filter, and the IP but can't find a priming pump. Does anyone have a picture of what it looks like on this Year and model.

see the injection pump here?

see that flat, black circle facing the sky?

thats it. it may have been updated to a black cylinder with a much smaller circumference, but in the same location.

in your first photo, it is slightly south west of the center of the picture. I think I see a small black cylindrical pumping cap.

push on that.

See that's what I thought but mine doesn't have anything there. I will try to get a better photo tomorrow but there is nothing on the side that looks like that.

Follow the fuel filter inlet hardline downward, it will lead you to the output port of the lift pump.

The primer pump is just behind and to the right of the output port.

The fuel filter has been changed. The w115-300D has the primer pump near the fuel filter.

See this picture:

the*Benz.* 1976 300D w115 by Steve*Snider, on Flickr

Between the battery and the fuel filter there is a round thing, that is the primer pump on a W115-300D.

Thank-you that's what I thought.it looks like the one on the 123 not the w115. Guess I need to look for an original.

I've seen w115s with your style of filter setup and the primer on the IP.

Beyond that, I can't justify or determine the differences.

Is there a third port on your lift pump, even if it is blocked off?

Yes it looks like there is a port blocked off on the lift pump. Is that where the priming pump should be maybe. I will get a picture of it tomorrow.

Yes, that is where it COULD BE.

it will likely fit if you buy a typical primer, but I am not certain.

Measure the threads, and I will check one of my spare primers to confirm.

Its also quite possible that someone modified it (like the other poster suggested) and blocked that off. According to the pic I posted... looks like a typical primer will go right in.

however... also looks like a PItfA to install.

This is a picture of the fuel injection pump and a picture o found from the part number on it and that is what it looks like. Does anyone know if you can put a priming pump on the blocked off port on it and if you can any recommendations on what one?

not sure, but I am betting one will screw right in.

it has a very similar model number to all the other lift pumps of this era, it is likely the same threading.

go to a parts store with metric bolts - NAPA- try out some bolts.
tell us what size bolt fit.
then we can confirm.
